The Inaugural Conference Est. 2027

Summer Conference on Atomic and Molecular Physics

Summer CAMP

A week-long meeting of the atomic, molecular & optical physics community, all under one roof.

Meeting Format

On-site, all week.

Four and a half days at the Chaminade Resort in Santa Cruz — roughly two hundred atomic, molecular, and optical physicists, living and meeting in one place.

  • ~200
    Attendees
  • ~40
    Invited talks
  • 4.5
    Days, on-site
  • 1st
    Inaugural year

All talks, meals, and downtime take place at the resort, and participants are encouraged to stay on-site for the whole meeting. Most do — so senior faculty and first-year graduate students share the week in one place rather than scattered across town.

  • ~40 invited talks Across theory and experiment, pitched to be clear for graduate students in any AMO subfield, with an emphasis on new and unpublished work.
  • Communal meals Breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, and dinner — shared by the whole meeting, every day.
  • Open afternoons Time set aside each day for hiking, sport, poster sessions, and unstructured conversation.
  • Every career stage From first-year students to senior faculty, sharing the meeting on equal footing.
